Reactive-Dog Friendly Scentwork Beginners Course
Reactive-Dog Friendly Scentwork Beginners Course
4 Session | Last Sunday of each Month | Bransgore Scout Huts, BH23 8DD | 12:30PM - 2:30PM
Are you looking for an activity that will tire your dog out? But do you have a dog that won’t suit a classroom in enviroment with other dogs? Then come to our Reactive-Dog Friendly Beginners Workshops.
This programme covers the same content as the Beginners Course, teaching you Passive Scentwork. But rather than taking place in a classroom for 8 weeks, it takes place in 2-hour workshops once monthly where dogs work one at a time. This gives the dogs plenty of time to process, learn, decompress and practice before returning for their next sessions and keeps the experience fun and safe for all sorts of dogs.
The four sessions will be:
Sunday 30th March, 12:30PM - 2:30PM
Sunday 27th April, 12:30PM - 2:30PM
Sunday 25th May, 12:30PM - 2:30PM
Sunday 29th June, 12:30PM - 2:30PM
Scent Detection training has long been used across the world, for working and operational services. Dogs are used to search for drugs, bombs, firearms, cash, contraband, missing people and human remains. In recent years dogs are being used for assistance purposes and medical detection such as detecting cancer cells. Canine olfaction is absolutely amazing! Dog can be trained to identify and locate any scent which it has been trained to detect.
Scentwork for our pet dogs is about teaching them to sniff out a particular scent. Scents like kong, gun oil or catnip are generally used. The beginners course is open to any type of dog and of any age, no previous experience necessary.
Stater pack with full basic kit to get you going is all included in the course price.
