Are you looking for an activity that will tire your dog out? Whilst getting them to use their super-power: their noses!

Scent Detection training has long been used across the world, for working and operational services. Dogs are used to search for drugs, bombs, firearms, cash, contraband, missing people and human remains. In recent years dogs are being used for assistance purposes and medical detection such as detecting cancer cells. Canine olfaction is absolutely amazing! Dog can be trained to identify and locate any scent which it has been trained to detect.

Scentwork for our pet dogs is about teaching them to sniff out a particular scent. Scents like kong, gun oil or catnip are generally used. Our scentwork sessions are run by WSDA (World Scent Dog Associacion) Instructor and Level 1 Judge. The sessions are designed to develop dogs natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of food and toys. You wil lbe introduced to the worlds of both “active” and “passive” scentwork. Your dog will have great fun, build confidence and focus and burn physical and mental energy. It will also help you and your dog bond and work as a team.

The beginners course is open to any type of dog and of any age, no previous experience necessary. Only requirement is that your dog is comfortable learning in the presence of other dogs, if you have an anxious/nervous/reactive type then please email emily@mamda.co.uk for options.

Stater pack with full basic kit to get you going is all included in the course price.

Please note: There are a couple of weeks were regularly weekly classes will not run, owing to academix examinations, continued professional development and summer break. There will be no classes on:

• Wednesday 15th May

• Wednesday 3rd July

• Wednesday 21st August

• Wednesday 28th August

If your course falls across either of these dates your classes will resume the following week.
